Junior Golf Tour of Northern California Crowns Winners During Spring Series I Championship at The Reserve at Spanos Park
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (March 21, 2025) – The Junior Tour of Northern California (JTNC) crowned champions at the Spring Series I Championship at The Reserve at Spanos Park.
Sophia Peters and Everest Williams both won their respective flights during the first JTNC tournament on the 2025 Calendar. Sophia earned her first win of the JTNC season while Everest carded back to back rounds of under-par to win his respective flight by one shot.
In the Girls’ Championship, Sophia Peters claimed her 1st winners medal on the Junior Tour as she finished 5-over par after carding rounds of 70 and 79 at par-72 Reserve at Spanos during Sunday's final round. Sophia's steady play over the two day event lead to five birdies as she won the competition by one shot, ousting Melody Chen for the 1st place medal. With an outstanding 2-under 70 during play of round one, Peters found it difficult during round two to maintain the consistent style of play she produced the day prior. Luckily for Sophia she was able to piece together a round that saw her stay afloat at the top of the leaderboard with a front nine of 38 and a back nine of 41. Sophia is now ranked at 11th on the 2024-2025 JTNC Girls' Player of the Year Standings, 33 points shy of a top-10 spot.
Melody Chen finished with a runners-up medal after rounds of 74-76 and finishing at 6-over for the weekend. Melody happened to card just one bridie over the two day tournament, however it was a plethora of pars that helped keep her in contention for the lead as she carded 28 in total. This is Melody's first medal finish for the 2024-2025 season, ranking her at 19th on the Girls' Player of the Year Standings. Kate Keith claimed third place after rounds of 76-75 for a 151, surpassing the next best player by one shot and making it her first top-three finish of the season! Missing out on a medal spot was Hayley Fong who finished 8-over par, making it her fourth top-ten finish of the season with this 4th place performance. Hayley shot rounds of 76-76 for a 152, moving her to 22nd on the 2024-2025 JTNC Girls' Player of the Year Standings. Fifth place was awarded to Bella Ransi of El Dorado Hills, who carded rounds of 76-78 for 154 with a total of four birdies over the two day event.
Everest Williams celebrates his first winners medal of the 2024-2025 season with a one shot win over Nakul Shrivastava, the pair were tied heading into the final seven holes of the competition. Williams was ultimately victorious as he carded two crucial birdies to eventually separate himself at the top of the Boys leaderboard. Williams combined rounds of 3-under par and 4-under par while carding nine birdies on his way to victory. This win takes Everest to 6th of the JTNC Boys Payer of the Year Standings and now is only 43 point shy of the top-five ranked players. Everest was finally rewarded with good fortunes this time around, as he has had finished top-five in two other events with no first place medal to show for his efforts.
Second place went to Nakul Shrivastava at 6-under par, Nakul carded rounds of 70-68 for a 138 after an impressive 10 birdies over the two-day tournament. Shrivastava earns his second medal spot of the season and is looking to further enhance his status on the Junior Tour with future performances just like this one. Third place ended up in a tie at 2-under par between Richard Ding and Sahil Nathoo. Sahil Nathoo was selected as the 3rd place medalist via a card-off where he shot the lowest second round score between the duo, turning in a score of 69 versus Ding's final round 70. Subsequently, Ding was awarded fourth place with rounds of 72-70 while carding a total of six birdies as he moves up to 7th on the Boys' Player of the Year Standings.
