Junior Golf Tour of Northern California Crowns Winners at Fall Series X Championship at Ridge Creek Golf Club
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (November 5, 2024) – The Junior Tour of Northern California (JTNC) crowned champions at the Fall Series X Championship at Ridge Creek Golf Club in Dinuba.
Nathan Tarter and Victoria Cui won their respective divisions at the Fall Series X Championship at par-72 Ridge Creek Golf Club.
Nathan Tarter picked up his first win of the 2024-2025 season with two under-par rounds of 71 and 68, beating out Ben Friedman for the winner’s medal by one shot. In the opening round, Tarter was off to a smooth start going 1-under par though the first round, carding four birdies and eleven pars to show for it. The highlight of Nathan's weekend was undoubtedly his bogey free 4-under par 68 during play of round two, Tarter card a front nine of 33 and a back nine of 35. Victory at Ridge Creek Golf Club has helped Nathan move up to 15th on the Boys Player of the Year rankings for 2024-2025 season.
Second place went to runner-up Ben Friedman at 4-under par 140, with the silver lining being that this finish only increases Friedman's lead as the best ranked JTNC Boy's player for the 2024-2025 season. Ben had rounds of 68-72, featuring a total of thirteen birdies throughout the championship for his fourth medal of the season. Third place ended in a tie between Hayden Thill and Drue Henry Sanchez at 3-under par 141, with Thill ultimately taking the medal spot with the lower second round score of 70 versus Sanchez's second round 71.
In the Girls’ Championship, Victoria Cui continues her dominating start to the 2024-2025 JTNC season with her second win of the season at 10-under par 134. Victoria carded rounds of 66-68 winning by a total of four shots over runner-up Anita Lumpongpoung. Victoria produced her best golf of the year as she went 35 consecutive holes mistake free, her only bogey for the tournament came on the very first hole during round one. Victoria racked up a total of eleven birdies and twenty-four pars capping off a stunning tournament for the talent from Atherton. Victory here at Ridge Creek takes Victoria up to 3rd on the Girls' JTNC Player of the Year Rankings, just 187 points off the top spot.
Anita Lumpongpoung earned a runners-up medal as she finished 6-under par with back-to-back under par rounds of 71-67 for 138, carding twelve birdies throughout the two day championship. Lumpongpoung has placed in the top-five of all five JTNC tournaments she has played in for the 2024-2025 season, with two of those appearances ending with a runners-up medal. Third place went to Erica Villegas at 2-under par 142, Erica carded rounds of 68-74 with a total of eight birdies to highlight her weekend.
In the Boys’ First Flight Championship, Ethan Mouanoutoua had a final round 76 to come in at 153, carding nine birdies on his way to victory in his first win of the 2024-2025 season! Mouanoutoua defeated runner-up Anthony Qian via a card-off after the pair were tied at 9-over par 153, both shot identical rounds of 77-76 which required a matching of cards that resulted in Qian taking second place. Qian picks up his first medal of the 2024-2025 season as he looks to build on this momentum heading into the JTNC Holiday Series tournaments.
Third place was awarded to Ethan Wahyudi after rounds of 84-70 for 154, this is Wahyudi's first medal of the 2024-2025 season.
In the Girls’ First Flight Championship, Vaanya Behl shot 171 with rounds of 86-85, carding two birdies during the tournament. This is Vaanya's first win on the Junior Tour as she looks to build momentum going into the Holiday Series events. Second place went to Brielle Wahyudi, carding two birdies on the weekend and earning a runner-up medal for the first time this season.
