Davis Golf Course got its first NCGA Zone title.
Davis GC, made up of teammates Marshall Bambino, Fred Muller, Matthew Muller and Clifton Wentworth, posted a final round 18-under 126 on Bayonet Golf Course to finish with a two-day score of 41-under 247 playing in a format that takes the two best net scores of a four-person team.
It was in the first round that Davis GC took control, carding a 121 on Black Horse GC.
Alta Sierra CC was second at 253 following a second round 124. Napa GC placed third at 256.
First played in 1967, the NCGA Zone Championship is a four-person team event for regular clubs. Fourteen regional championships are staged with the champion and runner-up qualifying for the final championship.

Davis Golf Course has put itself in great position after opening day of the annual NCGA Zone Championship.
Davis GC, made up of teammates Marshall Bambino, Fred Muller, Matthew Muller and Clifton Wentworth, posted a first round score of 23-under 121 Monday at Bayonet GC in Seaside.
The next closest teams--Napa GC, Alta Sierra CC, Boulder Creek GC and Glenn G&CC--are eight strokes back at 129.
Davis GC has never won the event.
