In the Girls’ Championship, Asterisk Talley continued her quest in trying to dismantle the JTNC Girls all-time win list after she secured her 21st JTNC win, making these back-to-back wins for the start of the 2023-2024 season. Talley showed once again why she is a multi-time Girls Player of the Year winner, beating her next closest competitor by five shots with rounds of 68-67 finishing the 36-hole competition at 135. The Chowchilla talent showed no mercy as day two got underway when she birdied the first four holes, increasing her lead over runner-up Lily Peng. Talley carded 13 birdies over the weekend and is now 8 wins back of Sabrina Iqbal’s JTNC Girls record that stands at 29 wins.

Peng had a final round 69 to come in at 4-under 140. Third place wrapped up this star-studded podium as Cathy Zhang came in at 141, carding rounds of 73-68 to finish at 3-under par. Fourth place went to Kara Lee at even-par 144, beating our Emma Wang who earned fifth place finishing at one-over par 145.

Johnny Sprague, from Lodi, notched his first win of the 2023-2024 season thanks to a final round of 68 that saw him card six birdies and win in a playoff versus Alejandro Formosa. Sprague fought off tough conditions in the opening round as the bay winds started to pick up in the afternoon when the Boys Championship began to tee off. Despite this, Sprague was able to find a rhythm at the start as he posted 1-over 73. A day later, he carded a 4-under 68 leading to a playoff that he would ultimately win. Formosa was the eventual second place medalist finishing at 141 with rounds of 73-68, forcing the payoff with a birdie on the final hole of the competition.

Third place went to Rusell Chiu after rounds of 69-73, finishing at 2-under par 142.

Next up on the Junior Tour of Northern California’s schedule is the Fall Series III tournament, taking place at The Golf Club at Moffett Field on September 2-3.
