What’s New for NCGA Women’s Golf in 2026?

The NCGA is proud to announce all-new women’s golf programming for the 2026 season, designed to make women’s golf in Northern California more vibrant, inclusive, and accessible than ever before.

With expanded opportunities for play, a simplified structure, and a brand-new points program, 2026 marks an exciting new era for women’s golf across the region.

Why the Change?

Our vision is simple: to ensure that golf in Northern California is vibrant, inclusive, and accessible. That means continuing to support and grow women’s golf at every level — from casual players to seasoned competitors.

By modernizing and unifying the structure of women’s events, we’re making it easier for every female NCGA member to find playing opportunities that fit their game, their schedule, and their goals.

What’s Changing in 2026?

1. Introducing the all-new NCGA Women’s One Day Series!

Play. Connect. Celebrate! for women golfers of all abilities.

Beginning in 2026, NCGA is introducing an all-new Women's One Day Series, open to all female NCGA members.

  • Every event in the series is open to all female members, regardless of club affiliation.
  • The NCGA Women’s One Day Series combines the former Play Days and Open Days.
  • Players can compete in as many events as they’d like throughout the year.
  • Points earned at each event will contribute to the year-end standings, with exciting recognition for top point earners.
  • Stay tuned for full details on the new Women’s One Day Series Points Program, launching soon!

With over 80 playing days across Northern California, this will be one of the largest women’s golf programs of its kind among all Allied Golf Associations (AGAs) in the U.S.

2. Honoring Our Legacy Events

The NCGA will continue to celebrate the long-standing history of women’s competitive golf in Northern California by maintaining the term “Legacy” for all events that originated under the PWGA and WGANC.

All legacy tournaments and championships will now carry the “Legacy” name under the NCGA umbrella — ensuring history is preserved while moving forward together.

For example:

What’s Staying the Same?

While the structure is changing, many familiar features of women’s events remain:

  • Registration will continue to be first come, first served, following the same registration windows as all NCGA events (unless otherwise noted by event eligibility).

    • Example: The WGANC Legacy Stroke Play Championship will continue to accept the field with the lowest Handicap Index.
  • Event Formats remain as exciting and diverse as ever — including Stableford, individual stroke play, team play, and 4-ball formats.

We’re keeping what you love while removing barriers to participation.

Why This Matters for Women’s Golf in Northern California

2026 marks a turning point for women’s golf within the NCGA. By bringing all women’s events under one umbrella, we’re creating a stronger, more connected community where:

  • Every NCGA woman golfer has access to year-round events.
  • Events are easier to understand, register for, and enjoy.
  • Legacy tournaments remain celebrated for their heritage.
  • A new Points Program adds excitement, camaraderie, and recognition throughout the season.

“This is the largest, most inclusive women’s golf program of its kind among all AGAs — and it’s happening right here in Northern California.”
