Mr. John Kluga, a former NCGA Board of Directors member and president of Spyglass Hill Golf Club, has died.
Kluga passed March 10 at the age of 98. He was a founding member of Sharon Heights GC and served as president of the club, as well as on the Greens and Grounds and Golf Committees. He was also a Club champion.
Kluga had served as president of both Spyglass and Palos Verdes Golf Clubs and was champion of Spyglass. He played on two Stanford Pacific Coast Conference championship teams and was Stanford University's champion twice. The NCGA moved its headquarters from San Francisco to Spyglass Hill in 1966.
He devoted a great deal of time to the NCGA, serving on its board and advisory committees. His contribution to the expansion and enjoyment of golf in California, as well as his athletic accomplishments, have brought honor and respect to him and recognition to Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club.
