The NCGA is proud and honored to announce what will be its NCGA Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
Longtime golf supporters Charles Schwab and Condoleezza Rice, former USGA President J. Stuart Francis and late NorCal amateur great E. Harvie Ward will be honored as the 15th NCGA Hall of Fame class.
A Sacramento native, Charles Schwab’s love of golf developed at a young age, and his business enterprise has been the Official Investment Firm of the PGA Tour since 1997 and serves as the title sponsor for the PGA Tour Charles Schwab Challenge, held annually at Colonial Country Club, and the season-long Charles Schwab Cup on the PGA Tour Champions. In 2013, the Cup finals were held at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco.

A regular in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Condoleezza Rice has become a global ambassador for the game. One of the first females to become a member at Augusta National Golf Club in 2012, Rice is annually a prominent supporter and visible figure at both the Augusta National Women's Amateur and the Drive, Chip and Putt Finals at Augusta. The former U.S. Secretary of State plays a similar role at Stanford University, where she has served as director of Stanford’s Hoover Institution since 2020.

During his tenure as president of the USGA, Francis (photo, top of page), who is a Bay Area business icon, helped the USGA navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic and worked to elevate the USGA’s national championships, especially in regard to women’s events. During his tenure, Francis also helped with the modernization of the Rules of Golf and led the process for identifying the current USGA CEO, Mike Whan.
Ward, a Bay Area resident during his amateur days, was by all accounts the greatest amateur player in the world during the 1950’s. He remains the only player to win the NCAA title, British Amateur (in 1952), Canadian Amateur (in 1954) U.S. Amateur (both in 1955 and 1956), known in amateur circles as the proverbial ‘Am-Slam.’ At the U.S. Amateur championships, he’d even double-up, earning qualifying medalist honors in both events.

Founded in 2011, the NCGA Hall of Fame preserves and honors the legacies of those who significantly impacted golf in the region.
The Hall of Fame is a proud pillar of the NCGA Foundation, whose vision is to ensure the game is vibrant, inclusive and accessible.
In addition to honoring golf’s rich history, the NCGA Foundation
champions programs that build a stronger future for the game -
supporting youth, underserved communities and other golf
organizations united around shared goals.
