Junior Golf Tour of Northern California Crowns Winners at Fall Series VIII Championship at Bing Maloney Golf Course
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (October 29th, 2024) – The Junior Tour of Northern California (JTNC) crowned champions at the Fall Series VIII Championship at Bing Maloney Golf Course.
Erin Le Nguyen shot 5-under par 139 and Alejandro Formosa shot 12-under par 132 to win their respective divisions during the Fall Series VIII Championship at par-72 Bing Maloney Golf Course in Sacramento.
Alejandro Formosa picked up his first win of the 2024-2025 season with repeat under-par rounds of 69 and 63, beating out Alexander Thu for the first-place medal. In the opener, Formosa carded a solid 3-under 69 that featured three birdies and no bogey's to wrap up the day of competition. In round two Alejandro went on to have a stellar outing as he carded a 9-under par 63 and while having 10 birdies and just one bogey to show for it. Formosa birdied holes 14, 15, 16 and 18 as he conjured up a comeback that sparked a wire-to-wire finish between himself and Alexander Thu for the top spot of the Boys Championship flight. Formosa would eventually secure the winners medal for the tournament, playing near perfect golf for 36-holes as he turned in two scorecards with just one bogey. Alexander Thu was the eventual second place medalist finishing at 133 with rounds of 67-66, Thu registered thirteen birdies over the two rounds.
Third place went to Trenton Stuart after a comfortable three-shot lead over Ethan Cheng. Stuart carded rounds of 68-68 while making nine birdies and two eagles over the weekend, this outing is Trenton's second top-three finish of the JTNC season.
In the Girls’ Championship, Erin Le Nguyen picks up her first win of the 2024-2025 season coming in with rounds of 70-69 to finish at 139. In terms of the leaderboard, Erin was in a close race for the winners medal versus Madalynn Lee as she had a two shot lead heading into the final nine holes of the competition. Erin eventually prevailed as her mistake free golf lead to victory over Madalynn, Nguyen carded four birdies on her finishing holes sealing victory for the first time this season. Nguyen produced quite the stat sheet carding nine birdies throughout the 36-hole event, making just four bogeys while adding 23 pars to her name and picking up her second top-three finish this year.
Madalynn Lee earned a runners-up medal as she finished 4-under par with scores of 74-66 for a total of 140, carding eight birdies. Madalynn has placed in the top-five in five seperate JTNC tournaments she has played in for the 2024-2025 season so far. Third place went to Hannah Stouder who finished at 144 after scoring 74-70 over the weekend, this is Hannah's first medal of the 2024-2025 season as she beat her next closest competitor by one shot. Fourth place ended in a tie between Bella Ransi and Anita Lumpongpoung at 1-over par 145.
In the Boys’ First Flight Championship, Lincoln Sylvester had a final round 75 to come in at 153, carding eight birdies on his way to victory in his first win of the 2024-2025 season. Sylvester defeated runner-up Nyles Han by one shot, Nyles finished the weekend at 10-over par 154 after rounds of 82 and 72 where he came out one shot ahead of Elijah Shi.
Third place eventually went to Elijah Shi as he carded rounds of 83 and 72 with a total of three birdies. Fourth place subsequently went to Ethan Cua at 12-over par 156.
In the Girls’ First Flight Championship, Danica Hidayat shot 153 with rounds of 77-76, defeating her next closest competitor by just one shot. Lu carded three birdies over the weekend earning another winners medal for the 2024-2025 season. Second place was awarded to Anna Le Nguyen, the younger sister of the Girls Championship Flight winner mentioned earlier, Anna finished the tournament at 151 with rounds of 82-72 to finish at 10-over par.
In third place was Vaanya Behl at 13-over par 157, Olivia Lee was fourth after rounds of 78-82 for 160.
