Junior Tour of Northern California Crowns Winners During Fall Series VII Championship at Windsor Golf Club

Pairings/Results

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (October 3, 2023) – The Junior Tour of Northern California (JTNC) crowned champions during the Fall Series VII Championship at Windsor Golf Club.

Asterisk Talley shot 5-under par 139 and Jaden Dumdumaya shot 4-under par 140 to win their respective divisions during the Fall Series VII Championship Flight only tournament at par-72 Windsor Golf Club.

In the Girls’ Championship, Asterisk Talley proceeded in dominating what is her third win of the 2023-2024 JTNC season in as many tries. Talley, the 2022-2023 Girls Player of the Year winner, sealed her 22nd win on the Junior Tour during the final 9-holes of competition as she carded a 33 that included four birdies and just one bogey to beat out Lily Peng by four shots. Asterisk had rounds of 70-69 to finish the weekend at 139, carding eleven birdies as she efficiently managed her shots around a tough course setup that included plenty of risk-and-reward plays throughout the venue. Talley is currently ranked second in the 2023-2024 Girls Player of the Year standings and is now only 7 wins back of Sabrina Iqbal’s JTNC Girls record that stands at 29 wins. Could this be the season that Talley cements her legacy in JTNC history? All signs this year are pointing to what could be a monumental feat for the 14-year-old phenom from Chowchilla.

Runner-up Lily Peng had rounds of 73-70 to come in at 143, carding eight birdies on her way to a fifth medal for the season. Peng’s runners-up medal does come with some shine to it as this helped propelled her to first place in the Girls Player of the Year standings for 2023-204. Third place had to be decided via a card-off as Diya Kumar and Erica Villegas came in tied at eight-over par 152. Villegas came out victorious in the card-off with the lower round two total of 74 versus Kumar’s 80, this is Villegas’ first medal on the Junior Tour this season as she carded six birdies to go along with it. Diya Kumar took fourth place with rounds of 72-80 to wrap up the Girls Championship flight leaderboard.

Jaden Dumdumaya, the 2022-2023 Boys Player of the Year, earned his first winners medal of the 2023-2024 season thanks to rounds of 68-72 that saw him finish at 4-under par 140 for the two-day tournament. Dumdumaya strung together seven birdies and an eagle as his final round of even-par allowed him to build and maintain a buffer between himself and runner-up Clark van Gaalen, the 2021-2022 Boys Player of the Year. With Dumdumaya competing in his first JTNC event of the new season he establishes a 100% winning record to start, as he looks to add more silverware to his plethora of Junior Tour accolades this coming season.

Clark van Gaalen was the eventual second place medalist finishing at 142 with rounds of 69-73, carding a commendable ten birdies and one eagle. van Gaalen’s eagle on the 35th hole of the competition was the difference between a silver or a bronze medal as his spectacular play gave him the edge over Trenton Stuart, beating him by two shots.  Third place went to Trenton Stuart after rounds of 74-70, finishing at even-par 144, this is Stuart’s third top-five finish on the Junior Tour which pushes him up to fourth place in the Boys Player of the Year rankings. Fourth place in the tournament went to Aaron Parayno at 3-over par 147 after rounds of 73-74, the fifth spot being awarded to Michael Sorber who carded rounds of 76-72 for 148.

Next up on the Junior Tour of Northern California’s schedule is the Fall Series VIII tournament, taking place at Corica Park Golf Course (South Course) on October 7-8.
