Finals---Belmont CC Thursday vs. Spring Creek Saturday
The Spring Creek Golf Course Saturday team has its own place in NCGA Team Match history.
On Sunday in the fog at Poppy Hills the Spring Creek Saturday squad knocked off Belmont Country Club, 27-9 to win the 2002 Team Match Championship. Spring Creek Saturday is the first Team Match team to win four titles in the 35-year history of the event. They also won titles in 2020, 2007 and 2003.
Team Match Program is a competition between players that belong to regular NCGA member clubs. Events use a format where two players from a side face off against two players from an opposing side in four-ball and individual matches concurrently, with players earning two points for a win and one point for a tie.
"We have a super competitive club. The guys who are on the team, they're all grinders," said captain Sam Vink.
The Spring Creek GC squad was comprised of Vink, Shea Rollins, Kyle Huckell, Jeff York, Eric Parsons, Bob Franceschetti, Gil Huckell, Sammy Cardenas, Shad Winter, Joel Tyrus, Joseph Aldridge and Mike Wiebe.
Belmont CC was the Thursday League champion, and had advanced to the Finals by defeating the Spring Creek Thursday team.

Consolation Finals---Spring Creek Thursday vs. Windsor Saturday
Spring Creek Thursday won the consolation match, defeating Windsor GC, 21-15.

It'll be Belmont CC vs. Spring Creek GC in the finals of this year's NCGA Team Match Championship.
Belmont CC went the distance on Saturday, defeating Spring Creek GC in the Thursday finals on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff to stop an all-Spring Creek final. Belmont CC would win all six points in the playoff.
The two teams finished the Thursday finals all knotted at 18 points apiece. Team Belmont also won the Thursday title in 2019. That year, they'd go on to win the Overall title, beating North Ridge CC.
Over in the Saturday finals, Spring Creek GC knocked off Windsor GC, 22-14.
Getting big wins for Spring Creek in Singles play were Jeff York (5 and 3), Gil Huckell (2 and 1), Joel Tyrus (4 and 3) and Joseph Aldridge, 6 and 4.
The Spring Creek Saturday team won the Overall title in 2020. Spring Creek Saturday also won titles in 2003 and 2007. With a win on Sunday over Belmont, Spring Creek Saturday will become the first team to win four titles.
The Spring Creek Thursday squad will meet the Windsor Saturday team in the consolation match.
