Golf is a game of emotions - elation, frustration, trepidation, etc.
The NCGA wanted to focus on the former when hosting the Joy of Golf event last week at Poppy Ridge in Livermore Wine Country - the perfect backdrop to celebrate the beautiful yet complicated game we love.
The day kicked off with a keynote address from golfer and author Susie Meyers, who shared her book "Golf From Point A" with the 100-plus attendees, delving into her game-changing philosophy with gusto. Meyers referenced her years on the LPGA Tour and U.S. Women’s Open experiences to demonstrate the power of Point A, sharing her philosophy on letting go with the group.
“What do we do at Point A?” Meyers asked the room. “We do the best we can right where we are with what we have. That’s all it is. Take a deep breath, let go, start over.”
After all that inspiration, attendees headed out into their personalized day of modules which included four of the nine available and ranged in topics from a deep dive into the mind game of golf, a nutrition and wellness demonstration, a golf-specific fitness clinic, a champagne-fueled skills challenge, a rules station and a putting clinic with Meyers herself.
Lunch was specially curated by Registered Dietitian and Certified Wellness Specialist Rochelle Lacey with recipes for the attendees to take home and try themselves.
The dynamic day concluded with a mix and mingle and trunk show event featuring wine tasting from nearby Darcie Kent winery, chocolate from Socola Chocolatier, clothing from Fore All, glasses from Flutter Eye Wear and jewelry from Love You More and Manjusha Jewels.
Everyone toasted to a day spent celebrating the Joy of Golf and walked away with tips and tricks for their toolbox and new partners for their tee times!"
