Final Round

The last four spots in the 59th NCGA Zone Championship were clinched at Poppy Hills on Tuesday afternoon. 

The North and South Sierra Zone Championships were decided on the Monterey Peninsula. Each tournament has four players per club playing in a format that takes the two best net scores of a four-person team. 

In the North Sierra Zone championship, Mount Shasta took home the title with a 25-under par 261. They were led by Steve Hilman, Donovan Ribb, Miller Sbarbaro, Kellen Waite.

Lakeridge Golf Club earned the second spot finishing at 22-under par 264. They were led by Ron Marshall, Schinper Manfredi, Bryan Sample and Andrew Schumann.

The South Sierra Zone Championship saw Tahoe Paradise GC win the title. They finished at 18-under par 268 led by Seth Davidson, Colby Gunsch, Matt Smithmier, Allen Vogt.

The last automatic spot had to be decided in a card-off which had Sequioa Woods CC advancing over Wawona GC to the Zone Championship. They finished at 14-under 272 led by Rob Bates, Tim Hanrahan, Brett Johnson, Mike Hurst.

The 59th NCGA Zone Championship will take place on August 24-25 at Bayonet and Black Horse GC in Seaside.

Chris Eckert (below) had the shot of the event, an eagle 2 on the par-4 18th at Del Monte GC in Monday's first round. Eckert holed out a 9-iron from 132 yards out.
