Hillsborough resident Xiaolong (Sherry) Zhong is the latest player to make it a double at the annual WGANC Legacy Champion of Champions.
Zhong carded rounds of 73 and 73 at Crystal Spring GC and Los Altos G&CC to finish the event with a two-day total of 4-over 146, good enough for a five-shot win over runner-up and former champion Karen Garcia.
Zhong, who also won the title in 2024, joined a recent list of winners to go back-to-back. Winners before Zhong were Lauren Gebauer (2022-23), Karen Garcia (2019-21) and Holly Bare (2018-17). There was no event in 2020 due to COVID-19.
From 2012-15, NCGA Hall of Famer Lynne Cowan ran off four straight titles.
On the Hall of Fame front, Zhong afterwards was greeted by another NCGA Hall of Famer, legend Juli Inkster.
