The rights of the title for the annual NCGA East Bay Zone Championship came down to a playoff.
In what was a thriller, both Blackhawk CC and Castlewood CC finished regulation tied after both came in with matching team scores of 25-under 261 playing in a format that takes the two best net scores of a four-person team.
In the playoff, Blackhawk CC prevailed to win. But Castlewood CC also got a reward.
Both Blackhawk CC and Castlewood CC advanced to this year's NCGA Zone Championship, set for Aug. 25-26 at Bayonet/Black Horse GC.

Castlewood GC is the team everyone is chasing after the first round of the annual NCGA East Bay Zone Championship.
On Monday, Castlewood GC, made up of teammates Benjamin Harrison, Bob Nebozuk, Jeff Maxoutpoulis and Andy Byron, carded a first-round 13-under 129 at Poppy Hills playing in a format that takes the two best net scores of a four-person team.
In second place at 131 is Blackhawk CC. Three teams--Metropolitan GC, Las Positas GC and Alameda GC--are tied for third at 133.
Only the two low teams will advance to this year's NCGA Zone Championship, set for Aug. 25-26 at Bayonet/Black Horse GC.
Tuesday's final round will see play shift over to par-72 Del Monte GC.
