The California Amateur Cup is headed back to Southern California.

A day after taking a commanding 18.5-11.5 lead over the NCGA in Four-Ball (Nassau), the SCGA tacked on more victories in Singles play, leading to a solid 52-38 in the biennial event. 

Playing at Mission Hills, in Singles play the SCGA defeated the NCGA, 33.5-26.5 

The SCGA now leads the series, 8-6, all-time. There have been two ties (2000, 2006). In the event of a tie, the Cup remains with the previous champion. 

Making big pushes for the NCGA in Singles play were Wes Payne, who earned three points with a sweep (front-nine, back-nine and overall 18), , Nick Randazzo (3 points), Mike Perchak, Katherine Zhu, Jeremy Gearhart, Randy Haag and Tina Barker (2.5 points).

The big winners for the NCGA in Four-Ball were tha tandems of Steve Sear and Randy Haag and Lynne Cowan and Karen Garcia. Sear and Haag, winners of the 2025 NCGA Senior Four-Ball Championship, earned three points by sweeping their match against Tim Hogarth and Jason Pridmore.  Sear was the 2024-25 Senior Men's Player of the Year.

Cowan and Garcia, who are both members at Sierra View CC, earned 2.5 points in their match against Shelly Haywood and Wendy Ohlmeyer.

Domingo Jojola and Wes Payne tacked on two more points for the NCGA in Four-Ball, defeating Corby Segal and Tongun Lako LoSarah.

Other Team NCGA members were Mark Morgan, Tony Ralph, Lauren Gebauer, Erin Sampson, Renata Young, Jimmy Castles, Matt Cohn, Garett Wagner and Tomi Marcus.

The event was formerly known as the Seaver Cup, in honor of the late Charles Seaver, who is a member of both the NCGA and SCGA Hall of Fames.

Team SCGA grabbed control of this year's biennial California Amateur Cup Matches on Tuesday, taking an 18.5-11.5 lead over the NCGA at Mission Hills CC in Rancho Mirage.

The opening round of action consisted of Four-Ball play, Nassau (front-nine scores, back-nine and overall).

The big winners for the NCGA were tha tandem of Steve Sear and Randy Haag and Lynne Cowan and Karen Garcia.
