Kevin Peyton was officially named the 97th president of the Northern California Golf Association at Wednesday’s NCGA Annual Meeting, which was held at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach.  Other board members for the 2025 NCGA golf season were also confirmed at the meeting. 

Peyton, a member at San Jose Country Club, has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2017. 

Peyton succeeds Ed Quinn, a member at North Ridge CC. Also seated were Vice President Lance Parker (seventh year) and Secretary/Treasurer Bill Carle. Current NCGA Board members that were re-nominated for 2025 were Preston Pinkney (sixth year), Cathy Stroh (sixth year), Dana Carrigan (fifth year), Karl Rodefer (fifth year), Bill Self (fifth year), April Kenyon (fourth year), Branche' Jones (fourth year), Erika Corradi (fourth year), Tyler Tharpe (fourth year), Greg Rhine (fourth year), Michael Braun (third year), Michael Smith (third year), Craig Oliver (second year) and Mike Woods (second year). 

In other meeting news, NCGA CEO Joe Huston provided an update on the renovation of Poppy Ridge Golf Course The renovation is being performed by architect Jay Blasi. The Poppy Ridge project, expected to be completed in mid-2025,  will result in a single 18-hole championship course and a nine-hole course that could play long or short. The course also now features new practice areas including the driving range. 

Blasi, previously a member of the Robert Trent Jones Jr. team that developed Poppy Hills, has an extensive resume' that includes 2015 U.S. Open site Chambers Bay in Washington and Golden Gate Park GC in San Francisco. 

There were also reports from Adam Heieck, CEO of Youth on Course, and USGA West Region Affairs Director Mike Sweeney, as well as the presentation of the 2023-24 NCGA Player of the Year awards. Winning the titles were AJ Fitzgerald (NCGA Men’s Player of the Year), Asterisk Talley (NCGA Women’s Player of the Year), Randy Haag (NCGA Senior Men’s Player of the Year), Lynne Cowan (NCGA Senior Women’s Player of the Year) and Terry Foreman (NCGA Super Senior Player of the Year).
