San Francisco resident Gerrell Williams took home the championship title, while Sean Lene of Daly City captured Weekend Net Tour Player of the Year honors.

Williams won his first Tour title, carding a final round 3-over 74 at Poppy Hills to come in at 2-over 144 for a two-shot win over runner-up Justin Caroddo.

The difference maker for Williams was a hole-out eagle two for a net one on the par-4 16th. Playing from 161 yards out, Williams hit a perfect 6-iron that ended up rolling into the cup.

"It feels awesome to win it. It's a manifestation of a lot of work and practice," Williams said.

Having taken the lead, the 40-year-old Williams tacked on a net birdie on the 18th to seal the victory.

"The last two holes, I just told myself to play conservatively. No two-putts or three-putts," Williams said. "Just get in and get home."

For Williams, it was his first WNT crown after competing on the Tour the last three years. Among the many things he loves about the Tour is the different venues.

"You get to play a lot of courses that normally I wouldn't get to, and they are all very well-managed events," Williams said. "You also get to play competitively with a great group of people."

Lene, meanwhile, wrapped up his first season on the Tour by capturing Player of the Year honors with a total of 2,945 points.

A NorCal Veterans Club member, Lene before joining the WNT hadn't played golf in 12 years, Once he decided to begin playing again, it was a matter of finding a home--the WNT was a perfect fit.

"I got my NCGA membership and the WNT fit exactly what I was looking for," Lene said. "It's amazing to have won the title. I never expected it. I met some new friends and enjoyed the competition."
