Blackhawk CC took control of the East Bay Zone Championship, but there's still another day to go.

The Blackhawk CC squad, made up of teammates Mark Chai, Goran Kalas, Svai Sanford and Geoffrey Tcheong, posted a first-round score of 4-under 138 Monday at Poppy Hills playing in a format that takes the two best net scores of a four-person team.

In second place at 143 is Las Positas GC. Three teams--Metropolitan GC, Castlewood CC and Fremont Park GC--are tied for third at 144.

Only the two low teams will advance to this year's NCGA Zone Championship, slated for Aug. 21-22 at Poppy Hills and Spyglass Hill.
