NCGA

Granite Bay High and Illiana Rubio of Oak Ridge High (El Dorado Hills) were the big winners at Monday's annual CIF/NCGA Girls' High School Championships at Berkeley Country Club. 

Granite Bay shot a team score of 35-over 395 (best-five-out-of-six) to claim its first NorCal Girls' golf crown. Oak Ridge was second at 402. Third place was a tie between Harker High of San Jose and Pleasant Grove at 417.

The Granite Bay squad was paced by a 4-over 76 by Tavia Burgess and a pair of 78s by Lauren Peirce and Sakura Watanabe. Other scores were a 79 and 84 by Serene Kim and Emerson Kim, respectively.

Oak Ridge was led by a 72 from Bella Ransibrahmanakul.

Rubio and Elizabeth Liu of Branson Ross High (Ross) both came in with matching scores of 1-under 71. Rubio won the sudden-death playoff with a par on the first hole. 

NCGA

Overall, nine players (those not on qualifying teams) also earned spots into the State finals. The nine were Lily Peng of Carondelet (72), Nicole Iniakov of Stevenon (74), Emily Luo of Monte Vista (74), Petra Yee of Pleasant Grove (75), Joyce Zhang of Valley Christian (75), Michele Ho of Daugherty Valley (75), Millie Wang of Saratoga (76) and Hannah Stouder of Christian Brothers (76). 

The State Championship will be held Nov. 15 at Poppy Hills.
