Valley Christian High of San Jose made it two in a row.
Valley Christian carded a team total of 32-over par 392 (best five scores out of six players) to capture Monday's NCGA/CIF NorCal Girls' Championship at par-72 Berkeley Country Club by five shots over runner-up Monte Vista High of Danville. For Valley Christian, it marked its second NorCal title in a row and third in the last six years (2017).
Leading the way for the Warriors were Francesca Sumcad (73), Joyce Zhang (78) and Varnika Achanta (79). Other Valley Christian scores were Varsha Ramachandran (80), Annabelle Chen (82) and Nithya Pattamatta (96).
Monte Vista was paced by a pair of 75's by Emily Luo and Rayne Ripperger. Third place went to Pleasant Grove High of Elk Grove at 398. Valley Christian, Monte Vista and Pleasant Grove all earned automatic spots into the CIF State Championship.
In the Individual championship, Ellie Bushnell of Granite Bay High was medalist/champion with a score of 71. Bushnell's teammate, Tavia Burgess, was second at 72. The two earned spots as individuals into the State finals.
Other individuals moving on to State were Olivia Duan of Cupertino (74), Millie Wang of Saratoga (75) , Michelle Woo and Selena Tang (76) of Mission San Jose (75), Nicole Iniakov of Stevenson (76), Nikki Chindavong of Rodriguez (76) and Camille Thai of Los Altos (76).
The 2022 State Championship will be held Nov. 16 at San Gabriel CC in San Gabriel.
