Junior Golf Tour of Northern California Crowns Winners at Holiday Series III Championship at Poppy Hills and Del Monte Golf Course

 

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (December 30, 2022) –The 2022-2023 Junior Tour of Northern California (JTNC) crowned champions Thursday at the Holiday Series III Championship at Del Monte Golf Course and Poppy Hills Golf Course.

Cambron Nevill shot 1-over par 144 and Asterisk Talley shot 3-over par 146 to win their respective divisions at the Holiday Series III Championship at par-72 Del Monte and par-71 Poppy Hills.

Nevill notched his first win of the 2022-23 season thanks to steady play both rounds. In the opener, he’d post an even-par 72 at Del Monte. A day later, he carded a 71 at Poppy Hills to hold off runner-up Zackery Tarter by a stroke. Nevill was clutch, coming up with a birdie on the par-3 17th hole.

Tarter had rounds of 72-73. Third place went to Ayden Fynaut at 146 after a final round 72.

Fourth place went to Chad Flory at 147. Hartej Grewal was fifth at 148.

In the Girls’ Championship, Talley won her fourth event of the 2022-23 season, thanks in part to a solid final round 72. In Wednesday’s opener, Talley shot 74. She’d hold off runner-up Cathy Zhang by two shots.

Talley now has 16 total JTNC victories and is in fourth place on the all-time win list.

Zhang had a final round 73 to come in at 148. Third place went to Camille Thai and Rori Fanning at 152. Thai was awarded third place following a card-off. Gianna Singh was fifth at 153.

In the Boys’ First Flight Championship, Adam Waller had a final round 75 to come in at 155 and defeat runner-up David Wu in a playoff. Wu had a final round 78.

Third place went to Rex Koen at 156. Max Cali was fourth at 158 and Augustin Nguyen was fifth at 159.

In the Girls’ First Flight Championship, Cynthia Lu had a final round 82 to come in at 153, defeating co-runners-up Alexis Lee and Caitlin Yang by 12 shots. Both Lee and Yang had final round 82’s.

Fourth place went to Suri Lau at 167. Melody Chen was fifth at 169.

The next event on the JTNC calendar is the Challenge Cup, to be held in January.
